Before we came to Spain, I had heard of the Balearic Islands, but I have to admit that I wasn’t exactly clear on where they are located. Somewhere in the Med, sure, and off the coast of Spain, of course, but there’s a whole lot of water in that general area. So for those of Continue Reading

Queue the Movie Montage

In really cheesy movies, they love to use a montage to show the quick passage of time. The main characters – who hated each other at sight, but now have to work together to save the town, host a wedding, and rescue Christmas by finding homes for 15 puppies – are seen mixing cookie batter, Continue Reading

Goodbye Azores!

Posted on July 3, 2024July 14, 2024 by Mike

Well, a last check of the forecast tonight has confirmed that the weather looks good for a departure tomorrow. We’ll be leaving the dock first thing in the morning. Light winds are forecast for the day tomorrow, and we may be motoring a lot as we work our way north and east. Sometime before noon Continue Reading

We officially moved back to Vancouver yesterday, and will have a view of a different marina for a few months as we get settled and find a new place to live.

Journey's End The last couple of days have seen u Journey's End

The last couple of days have seen us reminiscing and talking about the highlights of the last 5 years. It's been a bittersweet time. This morning we woke up just before dawn, raised the anchor as we have so many times before, and motored west in a gentle breeze and sunny weather. More stories, some laughs, and some tears.

At around 3 pm, we docked in Licata, which is where our sailing journey ends. Well, at least for now. We purchased Innisfree just over 5 years ago, undertook a major refit, packed up our lives, and set sail.

We explored remote inlets and endless tropical beaches, woke up to whales beside the boat, and swam with sea turtles. We crossed oceans, rode out violent storms, visited ancient cities, and climbed volcanoes. Most of all, wherever we went, we met amazing people and made some lifelong friendships.

After 15,000 nm, it's time for a change of pace. Time for new challenges and familiar surroundings. It is time to return to Vancouver, reconnect with old friends, and spend more time with family.

We've decided to put Innisfree up for sale. More to come on that and what's next. But for now, just a thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. We feel so fortunate and grateful.
